Real

This post is dedicated to real moms.

Every mom who has dedicated her life to raising a child, whether she gave birth to that child or not, is a real mom.

Every mom who has ever given birth to a child, whether they are parenting that child or not, is a real mom.

Every mom who has gone through the strain and pain of a homestudy, dossier, wait for a referral, etc. is a real mom.

Every mom who has gone through the strain and pain of labor and delivery is a real mom.

Every mom who has felt her heart swell so big she thought for sure it would break when she first held her child, is a real mom.

Every mom who has been up all night walking with a crying baby on their shoulder, is a real mom.

Every mom who has the magic power of kissing boo-boos better is a real mom.

Every mom who has ruined a much needed date with her husband because she was so worried about the kids back at home, is a real mom.

Every mom who has licked her finger and then used it to remove ketchup off of her child’s face is a real mom.

Every mom who has cried as her “baby” got on that darned Kindergarten bus is a real mom.

Every mom who has spent countless hours picking up Legos, Match Box cars, Barbie dolls, stuffed animals and crayons, is a real mom.

Every mom who has traded in hopes of her dream car for a minivan (or larger!), is a real mom.

Every mom who has used her shirt as a tissue for her runny-nosed toddler is a real mom.

Every mom who would rather spend an afternoon at the playground with her kids than an afternoon at the mall is a real mom.

Every mom who turns her head when a child calls “Mom!” at that playground, whether it is her child or not that is calling, is a real mom.

Every mom who will cry real tears when she gets a ceramic hand print for Mother’s Day from her child with a poem on the back reminding her that he or she will never be this small again, is
a real mom.

Every mom who gets so worked up when her child is wronged by someone that she makes a “Mama Bear” look tame, is a real mom.

Every mom who has adopted a child of another race, and loves that child so immensely that at times she honestly forgets that she didn't give birth to him or her, is a real mom.

Every mom whose most difficult job in life, most proud achievement in life and most precious gifts in life are the children she’s dedicated to, is a real mom.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the “real” moms.
